Over time Sterling silver will tarnish and begin to turn black. To keep your sterling silver jewellery looking new you will need to take care of it and keep it clean. How do you clean Sterling silver jewellery?
You can take care of your silver ring or other Sterling silver jewellery by gently rubbing it with a soft clean cloth.
There are also Sterling silver dips that are quick and easy to use. Be careful that when you use a silver dip you should do so quickly because if you leave the jewellery in the dip for too long it will be difficult to clean the dip off it when it hardens.
Be sure to rinse your jewellery thoroughly with water after you have cleaned it with the silver dip.
A soft clean cloth is the most common and simplest way to clean Sterling silver and is recommended as the preferred option when cleaning silver jewellery.
Please note that Sterling silver will begin to tarnish in humid conditions. So if you plan on heading to the northern parts of Australia where humidity is prevalent it might be an idea to leave the silver ring somewhere safe.
Because silver is such a soft metal it can damage easily and the humidity can cause it to change colour, turning black. The best way to look after your silver jewelry is to simple take care of it. Don’t leave it with other jewellery it can easily get scratched.
Silver can also be damaged by seawater so if you are heading to the beach, again it might be wiser to keep the ring at home. Taking care of your silver jewellery is the best way to avoid the disappointment of it being damaged.
